First Impressions & Dry Down
Supreme L'Homme Extreme opens with a blast of soapy neroli. The black pepper is detectable, but feels more like a generic "spice" note than specifically peppercorns. I get a fleeting hint of cardamom, quickly overpowered by a powdery iris. The iris leans heavily towards the makeup counter; think lipstick and pressed powder, not earthy rhizomes. The drydown is where it deviates most. The cedar is prominent, but coupled with a sharp, synthetic amber, it smells like freshly varnished plywood. While L'Homme has a smooth, creamy quality, this has a certain scratchiness, a vaguely unpleasant plastic-like aroma.
To Buy or Not to Buy?
This is a solid, safe choice for the guy who wants to smell clean and put-together without making a statement. Picture a young professional, maybe an accountant or a junior consultant, who prioritizes inoffensive grooming. Someone who wants to smell good, but doesn't want their fragrance to overshadow them. He values reliability and practicality, not a daring fragrance adventure.
Performance Reality Check
I tested this on my skin, and got roughly 5 hours of longevity. The projection is moderate for the first hour, extending to about an arm's length, then settles closer to the skin. I wore it on a mild spring day running errands, and felt it was appropriate for that, but nothing special. It also worked fine at the office.
