The Verdict
Glorious Oud is a steal if you love Oud for Greatness but can't justify the cost. It's a great daily driver for the office or a night out. The synthetic edge is noticeable up close, but from a distance, it’s tough to tell the difference. If you NEED that extra 85% of quality and complexity, spring for the original. However, if you're budget-conscious, Glorious Oud is a smart way to enjoy a similar scent profile without breaking the bank. Good dumb reach for fall and winter.
Scent Breakdown
Glorious Oud opens pretty darn close to Oud for Greatness. You get that spicy saffron kick, the nutmeg warmth, and a touch of herbal lavender trying to keep it fresh. It's maybe 85% similar right off the bat, but the quality isn't quite the same. There's a slightly synthetic edge that the Initio avoids. The heart brings out the oud, which is woody and slightly medicinal, but not barnyard-funky. It's a smooth, mass-appealing oud. As it dries, the patchouli and musk give it a grounded, slightly powdery finish. Where it differs from Oud for Greatness is that it lacks the same depth and complexity in the drydown.
Performance Reality Check
Longevity is solid. I get a good 6-7 hours on my skin. Projection is moderate for the first couple of hours, then it settles closer. Not a beast, but definitely noticeable. Decent performance .
