The Scent Profile
Majestic Empire jumps out with a spicy cinnamon and pepper combo, pretty similar to Herod, maybe 89% there. The tobacco leaf in the heart is present, but it's a bit drier, less syrupy than the original Herod. I pick up the incense and a slight floral sweetness from the osmanthus. Drydown is where it veers off slightly; a vanilla sweetness comes forward more noticeably, with a cedar-Iso E Super base that gives it some backbone. Herod has a richer, almost boozy depth that's missing here, replaced by a pleasant, albeit simpler, vanilla-wood accord.
Conclusion
If you like Herod but can't justify the price, Majestic Empire is a worthy alternative. It nails the general vibe . It's a touch less refined, with some slight synthetic edges detectable upon closer inspection. But for daily wear, especially in the fall and winter, it's a great choice. It’s perfect for the office, casual evenings, or even date night. This is a great daily driver.
Projection Power
Longevity is solid. I get a good 6-7 hours on skin. Projection is moderate for the first couple of hours, then it settles into a nice scent bubble. Not a beast, but definitely noticeable. Two sprays is enough for work.
