Notes & Nuances
Mango Delicieuse kicks off with a juicy, almost overripe mango, like the kind you find at the bottom of a smoothie – slightly fermented. The pepper is dialed up considerably, giving it a spicy zing that's more noticeable than in Mango Skin. This clone has a distinct medicinal quality, leaning towards cherry cough syrup in the opening before settling. The floral heart is present but overshadowed by the dominant mango and pepper. The base is where it really deviates; the "icing pink" note translates into a cloying, synthetic sweetness, with a plasticky drydown that lacks the smooth, musky depth of the original. The patchouli adds an earthy touch, but it’s fighting against the sugary elements.
Projection Power
I got about 5-6 hours of wear, with moderate projection for the first hour, extending about an arm's length. It quickly settles closer to the skin after that. I wore it to the office, and it wasn't offensive, but I also didn't receive any compliments. Another test was during an afternoon walk; the heat seemed to amplify the synthetic sweetness, which wasn't entirely pleasant.
The Verdict
This is a spring or summer daytime fragrance, best suited for casual outings or running errands. The sweetness and mango might be enjoyable for some, but its slight artificial character makes it less versatile. I wouldn't recommend it for formal events or close encounters.
