Olfactory Experience
Accord No. 3 Woody opens with a promising burst of juicy mandarin tempered by a biting grapefruit rind. The pink pepper adds a prickly heat, not unlike the initial sting of ginger ale. The heart aims for incense and tobacco, but lands closer to sweet cherry pipe tobacco mixed with ash, a far cry from liturgical frankincense. Saffron attempts to add sophistication, but the synthetic edge screams potpourri. The base is where it truly deviates. Instead of a majestic oud and supple leather accord, it presents a plasticky amber cloud. It's reminiscent of a new car interior, but not in a good way.
Projection Power
The initial projection is enthusiastic, filling a room for the first hour. It then retreats to a personal bubble, clinging to skin for around five hours. Tested during a rainy afternoon walk, it felt out of place and characterless.
Is it Worth It?
This is a scent yearning for a grand occasion but dressed in everyday clothes. Best suited for a casual fall evening, a trip to the mall, or perhaps a date where you want to project approachability, not command attention. It's too heavy for summer heat, too simplistic for formal settings, and lacks the gravitas required for winter nights.
