Our objective metric for performance per dollar.
Bottom Line
Wearing Emotions N°02 is a shadow of the original experience. The initial blast of citrus fails to capture the vibrancy of I by Widian, leading to a somewhat muddled and ultimately disappointing experience. What is gained is a fleeting resemblance at the opening; what is lost is the sophistication and depth of the original's nuanced composition, replaced by a plasticky and somewhat abrasive imitation.
First Impressions & Dry Down
Emotions N°02 Waterlily Tea Dress opens with a sharp, almost acrid mandarin. The grapefruit note is present, but rendered with a harsh, synthetic bitterness. Pink pepper attempts to add lift, but falls flat, presenting as a generic spice. The heart struggles to reconcile the promised incense with a cloying, cherry-pipe tobacco accord. The saffron is muted, merely a dusty undertone. The drydown reveals a thin, papery oud that lacks depth and complexity. The leather note is more akin to vinyl car seats than supple hide, melding with a sweet, cloying amber that amplifies the synthetic feel. Compared to I by Widian, this composition lacks the nuance and richness of the original. The brighter, more natural citrus notes and smoother transition of the original are absent here, replaced by jarring shifts and a persistent chemical edge.
Longevity & Projection
Longevity is moderate, approximately 5-6 hours on skin. Projection is initially strong, extending about one arm's length for the first hour, then quickly settling into a skin scent. Tested indoors in a climate-controlled environment.
