Notes & Nuances
Emotions N°04 Amalfi Sunray. It wants to be Fico di Amalfi, that much is clear. The opening bursts with a fizzy grapefruit and bergamot – a touch synthetic, like lemon-lime soda pop. But not unpleasant. The heart offers a juicy fig, sweeter than the original Acqua di Parma. Pink pepper lends a subtle tingle, a playful contrast to the fig's jammy character. The dry down settles into a woody base, cedar prominent, with a hint of benzoin's warmth. It's 84% there. The refinement of the original is missing; a certain smoothness traded for a brighter, slightly sharper experience.
The Verdict
This is the scent of effortless cool on a budget. Picture a stylish urbanite, clad in linen, grabbing an Aperol spritz after work. They appreciate the finer things, but don't feel the need to flaunt it. But if you're after the *vibe* of an Italian summer for under $30, Amalfi Sunray is a solid choice. Recommended for casual wear, especially spring and summer days.
Projection Power
Sadly, like many Zara fragrances, the performance is fleeting. On my skin, I get around 4 hours of moderate projection. It sits closer to the skin after the first hour. Reapplication is a must.
