Scentonym Analysis
Our objective metric for performance per dollar.
Is it Worth It?
This fragrance would suit casual daytime wear. The candied citrus opening would be fine for running errands or grabbing coffee. Its fleeting projection makes it acceptable for close-quarters scenarios.
First Impressions & Dry Down
Zara's Fleur De Baies bursts open with a candied grapefruit accord, immediately veering away from Widian's I. The pink pepper is amped up, lending a sharp, almost medicinal quality reminiscent of cherry cough syrup. The heart attempts the incense and tobacco blend but falls short; the incense comes across as synthetic, lacking depth, and the tobacco is a faint whisper of pipe tobacco rather than rich, aged leaf. The saffron adds a metallic tinge. The drydown offers a muted oud that mixes with a plasticky amber and a leather accord that is reminiscent of vinyl car seats. It's a pleasant but generic ambery oud, noticeably less complex than its inspiration.
Longevity & Projection
Fleur De Baies lasts approximately 5 hours on skin, projecting moderately within an arm's length for the first hour before quickly settling close to the skin. I tested it at the office during a full day. The projection became a faint skin scent by lunchtime.
