Zara's For Him Red Edition takes a serious swing at Baccarat Rouge 540 Extrait. The opening hits you with that distinctive sweet saffron and almond combo, like a candied, slightly medicinal vibe. It gets you pretty close, maybe 85% there. The jasmine and cedar in the heart add a touch of floral woodiness. However, the dry down exposes the budget; the ambergris and woody notes lack the depth and nuance of the original. There's a slightly scratchy, synthetic edge here that's undeniable.

Is it Worth It?

For Him Red Edition is a solid budget alternative for the BR540 Extrait curious. Is it a perfect dupe? No. But at 1/10th (or less!) of the price, it's a damn good approximation. If you're a student, or just want a daily beater that smells in the same ballpark, this is a winner. It is worth purchasing a small bottle or decant before committing. The original is undoubtedly smoother and richer, but the law of diminishing returns definitely applies.

Wear time & Sillage

This is where Zara shines, relatively. It projects moderately for the first hour, leaving a decent scent trail. Longevity? You'll get a solid 5-6 hours on skin, maybe 8 on clothes. Not beast mode, but respectable . Re-application is acceptable, given the cost. Don't expect the all-day performance of MFK's extrait.
